FAYE Celebrates its 20th Anniversary With a Successful Fashion Show

(In light of Power ng Pinoy’s advocacy to promote the Filipino culture and the arts, we had co-sponsored with Manila Mail one of the biggest Filipino fashion shows in Northern California showcasing the works of prominent Fil-am designers—Crisanta Malig and Roenna Nepomuceno del Rosario. In our Season2, we featured the life and journey of Crisanta Malig.)

On April 27, 2013 Fashion Arts & Youth Enterprises(FAYE) celebrated their 20th year anniversary at the Fort Mckinley Restaurant in  South San Francisco, CA with about 250 guests in attendance.  Hosted by CBS14 News Anchor, Audrey Asistio-Saldana,  the show was participated by more than 40 models from the young and emerging group to the upcoming professional models.  Pre-fashion show numbers were performed by upcoming artists Alexia Ocampo Kerwick,  Francesca Lazaro,  The Teczon Brothers,  Christina Schiller,  Mika Gorospe,  and Samantha Rose.  Melody Aure did a Zumba demonstration. Mariluz Ragasa, one of FAYE’s board members, opened the event with her remarks thanking everyone for attending the event.

A special number was rendered by twin brothers, Jesse and Christian Perkins, who just arrived from Manila 2 days before the event. The Perkins Twins, a product of FAYE themselves, are now pursuing their modeling, singing, and acting career in the Philippines. Both of these young men have also been featured in Season1 of Power ng Pinoy TV show because of their achievement as tennis player champions.

Three emerging fashion designers in their teens – Carmina Delos Reyes, Jaina Pe Benito, and Jailyn Reese Talavera, modeled their own creation. These designers had taken weekly classes from Crisanta Malig. A special collection created by another emerging teen fashion designer , Ava Ragasa, called “Ava’s World – A Mini-U collection”  was presented by sisters Aidan and Azja Ragasa, and by Miss Sing Tao (Diana Noriega Weng).

“I am very happy to see that after 20 years and still counting, FAYE has helped developed a number of young Fil-Ams explore their love for the visual arts,”

says Crisanta Malig, “ and we will continue to educate these individuals to inspire them to achieve their dreams.”

To showcase Roenna’s Collections and Crisanta’s collections, Celebrity Guests Eric Stanton Betts and Christina Rosse sang as the 24 male and female models walked the runway wowing the crowd with their modeling talents.

One of the highlights of the event is the participation of Charleston Pierce — the number one Fashion Show producer and Star model himself , who produced the final segments of the show. Pierce, a popular TV host, model coach, author,  fashion show producer, and an actor/model himself  has volunteered in providing assistance to FAYE since its early years.

Covering the event was the Power ng Pinoy TV  team, headed by Arnold Pedrigal, the show’s Executive Producer and Ms. Abby Eusebio, segment host and producer. Also present was Edwina Aniag, Operations Manager of Manila Mail, and correspondent/photographer Gary de Guzman.
