(Mandaluyong, Philippines – July 19) Almost 13,000 energetic pinoys danced continuously in the streets of Mandaluyong in the Philippines for at least 30-minutes to set the new Guinness World Record for the the largest Zumba class.
The multitude of street dancers occupied various areas in Martinez Street in Barangay Addition Hills. They were led by professional Zumba instructors to do the non-stop, 30-minute class which began at 6:30 am.
The Zumba session was organized by the Mandaluyong City Nutrition Committee and was part of the birthday celebration for Mayor Benhur Abalos who was recently won the UN Public Service Award for his health care program which encourages people to have more active lifestyle.
This new world record beats last year’s Guinness record-holder which was also held by another fellow Philippine city(Cebu) in October 2014 where more than 8,000 participants danced.
